Apparently, Apple products are recession resistant. I ordered quite a few different machines, and I'm already having to reorder. They sold pretty quick, which was impressive. I don't know if it's just that a bunch of people all of a sudden decided that they needed computers, or people wanted Macs that badly. iPods are still in stock though, so no worries on that. I caved in and got an iPod Touch. I'll just give my old iPod to my son. He's...pretty responsible. And he's been begging for one, so I figure we'll give him a test run with a used one first.

I keep getting calls about people worried about that 'Conficker' virus, which was supposed to go live yesterday. Well, it did go live, but not in the way that some people were thinking. It's evolving now, becoming harder to trace and faster to spread. Which is worrisome, since they think whoever is behind the virus will be able to access banking information and personal data whenever they decide to activate it. It is a very well-written virus.

On the bright side, if you're using Windows and keep up with your Windows Updates, you should be okay. Well, so long as you've got a decent antivirus program too. Macs are, as usual, immune.

So if you're still worried about your computer, you can bring it by the shop. I can do a virus scan for no charge, and we've actually got our anti-virus programs on sale this week if you need it. If you've got the virus? Well, there are a few programs I can use to try and get rid of the known variations. But like I said, it's mutating and evolving so fast at this point, it might not completely work. Worth a shot though, right?

Oh. And I got approval from Apple to sell their products. I'll have iPods and Macs next week. Whoo!

I would like to take a moment to reiterate that I do NOT repair Microsoft X-Box machines. You wouldn't believe how many kids I have bringing those to me, wanting me to fix that Red Ring of Death once they get it. That's Microsoft's problem, not mine. Besides, most of them are still under warranty, so why pay someone to fix it when Microsoft will do that for you? Then again, I did have a kid bring his in and just leave it cause he was so angry that it had stopped working. It wasn't a Red Ring problem; just a problem with the power adapter. I asked him if he wanted it back the next time he came in the store, but his parents had already gotten him a new one. So whoo, free XBox! See, now I can actually try out some of the games that I carry before recommending them to customers.

That being said, I'll also remind you guys that I get shipments in on Mondays, and should have the new stuff on the shelves by Tuesday. I might be getting some Apple products in soon. Shiny I know, mates. I've been eying a new iPod for myself. You know the new iPod Shuffles talk to you? Curious. Though I suppose that would be the only way to get things done on it, since it doesn't have a screen.

Ah, look at all the lonely people. Where do they all come from? Ah, look at all the lonely people. Where do they all belong? )
